Nuclear Energy Without Nuclear Waste

Development and Progress of Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR)

Power Density 

Current LENR units have a power density of between 10,000-100,000 watts/meter squared (W/m2), and greater. In contrast, nuclear fission comes in at 2,500-5,000 W/m2, natural gas 200-2,000 W/m2, coal 100-1,000 W/m2, solar 10-100 W/m2, wind .5-2 W/m2 and biofuels at .2-1 W/m2.

Generating millions of watts of power

What began twenty five years ago, as 0.1 watts of power being generated in a lab, has evolved into today’s units generating millions of watts of power.

Andrea Rossi/Industrial Heat LLC and Blacklight Power(Randall Mills) are leaders in this area. Rossi has reportedly sold one 1mw (1 million watts) unit to the US Navy and is currently in the process of the installation of a 1mw unit to a commercial customer. 10kw units will be available for in-home sales in the US. His units are known as E-cats and Hot Cats. Rossi has recently announced that his units have received safety certification.

High heat production

These units are producing energy in the form of heat, between 800C-1200C degrees; higher than the level needed to generate electricity. With this advancement, in the near future, utility plants can be retrofitted to use LENR as an exclusive fuel source.

Direct conversion to electricity

Blacklight has developed an innovative technology wherein photon energy is converted directly into electricity using photovoltaic cells (solar cells). Very high-power, high-efficiency cells are commercially available to convert the SunCell™ optical power directly into electricity at its 100 billion watts per liter energy density. Patents have been filed worldwide. Recently, BlackLight Power closed on $11M in private equity financing.

When this technology advancement is optimized, it will no longer be necessary to boil water in order to generate electricity.  As such, we can disconnect from the power grid and have these units producing heat and electricity right within our homes and offices.

High Coefficient of Performance

Typical LENR systems are developing a coefficient of performance (COP) of between 2-12 and have been validated by various independent third parties. That means these output 2-12 times more energy than were input into the system; substantially higher COPs have been reported.

One example is from a company, Solar Hydrogen Trends. Their product, the Symphony 7, is a multifactorial hydrogen reactor with elevated hydrogen production due to a set of 16 physical and chemical processes acting simultaneously on the hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen reactor uses water as the main fuel source and its emissions are 100% clean. Recent third party validations have indicated a COP of 1,345

Global Implementation of LENR technology

STMicroelectronics is developing a Low Energy Nuclear Reactor comprised of a reaction chamber, a reaction unit and an energy regulator. This is a first and significant in that a multi-national company is building the devices necessary to transition the development efforts into a global implementation. National Instruments has similar efforts in development.

Numerous LENR efforts

In addition to the companies mentioned above, other firms are currently developing and striving to eventually commercialize LENR. They include Brillouin (Robert Godes), Clean Planet (Hideki Yoshino), Defkalion (Alexandros Xanthoulis), Jet Energy (Mitchell Swartz), Hydro Fusion Ltd, Lenuco (George Miley and Mike McKubre) SRI and Lattice Energy (Lewis Larsen).

LENR Cars is a Swiss based company developing mobile electric generators based on LENR technology to power electric vehicles.

Multinational firms affirming LENR

Currently, there are many credible individuals and organizations worldwide, affirming the viability of LENR - NASA, US Navy, US Department of Defense, STMicroeletronics, Boeing, National Instruments, Royal Dutch Shell, Siemens, General Electric, Toyota, Mitsubishi, CERN, and many of the world’s renowned and Noble Prize winning physicists.

LENR can be used to revolutionize aviation and space exploration, potentially reducing costs by a factor of between 10-100x. NASA and Boeing are currently exploring research in the area of propulsion systems, utilizing this same energy producing technology.

Both NASA and the US Navy’s SPAWAR division have filed patent applications for LENR. In addition, numerous patent applications have been filed and accepted worldwide, by various organizations, for LENR.

So far, thousands of projects worldwide have independently reproduced and reported the production of high energy gains, or overunity,
